NASA Transition Team[edit]

political[edit]

We know this is a pure political appointment, Our Nation's Space directive is being guided by someone whom does not even have a true science degree. She is pushing for climate change research where this subject is still being debated and thus far is proving to be false. We need Administrator's who are not politically connected and have the right stuff in science to pursue goals that benefit American human space exploration, not whim's of ignorant social policy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.85.73 (talk) 13:24, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

as an engineer, i'm sympathetic to the view that a space policy degree from GW don't help in program management. after all, she is filling the slot of Hugh Dryden, and none of his successors deserve to hold his slide rule. however, this argument is similar to the ad hominem attack against her, as the architect of Obama's new policy. plu--eese, the one qualification for admins is political connections. nasa's goals have been purely political ab initio. human space exploration is a social policy. maybe we could speak of the golden naca years. Before NASA...[edit]

I believe that Ms. Garver was a member and staffer of the L-5 Society back in the 1980's, before they became the National Space Society. I cannot provide a source for this, other than my own fallible memory. I hope that somebody can determine the specifics of her membership and title, and the dates involved, and include them on this page in the future.

I see that she is part of an airline pilot's group. Is she a pilot, herself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.101.68.232 (talk) 17:39, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In an article on the history of the 1987 merger between the L5 Society and the National Space Institute, published in the Winter 2012 issue of Ad Astra, Mark Hopkins describes Lori Garver as "number two in NSI at the time of the merger," working alongside Executive Director Glenn Wilson. I cannot say whether or not she was also a member of L5, but she definitely came into the merged organization, the National Space Society, from the NSI side. Soon afterward, she became its Executive Director. —Beamjockey (talk) 23:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
