A ride in Open Top Bus to celebrate Chennai's Birthday[edit]

CHENNAI : Ever imagined going around Namma Chennai in an open top double-decker bus? This is what The New Indian Express, jointly with NAC Jewellers, offers for the next one week as the city clocks in its 377th birthday.

To be flagged off at Gandhi Statue, Marina Beach at 7.45 am on Sunday by R Natraj, retired IPS officer and Mylapore MLA, the bus will cover city’s landmarks, places of interest and feature interesting stopovers.

As part of the week-long celebrations, that will end on August 28, many interesting activities are planned - tidbits of the city’s heritage, visits to landmark places, talks on the city and quiz on the city.

Also, an interactive session ‘archaeospeak’ with Fulbright scholar Dr. Suresh on ‘What it is to be an archaeologist in Chennai’ will be organised for children.

Eminent story tellers from the team of Dr Eric Miller, Director, World Storytelling Institute, would tell stories about Chennai’s historic heritage. Also, interactive sessions, personal stories, archaeological facts are also planned as part of Madras Week celebration for students from select schools in Chennai. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.140.244.65 (talk) 13:23, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
