Blurb[edit]

I have removed most of this article, paring it down to a stub, as it has the sound of a commercial blurb, and is most probably a copyright violation. The original text of Kaitlyn Ashley, posted by the same constributor, certainly was a copyright violation.

If you are the article poster, please feel free to write something factual and original in the article.

The ultimate encyclopedia would contain the sum total knowledge of mankind. Including the bios of notable movie stars, porn or otherwise. So the answer is, respectfully, yes. --Alcalde 04:14, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Wouldn't it be great if we could peer into the past to see how folks other than the elite class lived, worked and played? The info on this site covers a lot of territory and who knows what will be of great value to folks in the future? Keep every bit of information about real people!!!! The future will thank us as we lay amouldering in the grave in a John Brownish manner. Obbop68.13.191.153 02:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- According to the box at the right of the entry, Marilyn has a natural bust, but the main text says she has had breast enlargements. Which is correct?

Both. She had a natural bust during most, if not all of her hardcore career, then got enlargements after. Oldcritter 06:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say enhancements later as well as in high school (Staples class of 1970) she wasn't very busty and seeing her from time to time since hs, they look like they've changed and were hard looking when last saw her in a 1989 performance in New Haven.

Partial filmography[edit]

There is no need to duplicate resourcse such as the IAFD by putting dozens of films up for porn performers. I would suggest paring down to a half dozen or so notable performances. This will keep the article cleaner.Oldcritter 06:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing the name style[edit]

Took a bit of looking but I knew I saw it somewhere. From the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies):

"After the initial mention of any name, the person may be referred to by surname only.... The use of the first name gives the impression that the writer knows the subject personally, which, even if true, is not relevant."

That's why I changed every mention of Marilyn to Chambers. Tabercil 21:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Daughter[edit]

According to her IMDB bio: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001032/bio her daughter is from a later marriage to Tom Taylor. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.178.156.215 (talk) 23:40, 7 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Behindgreendoor.jpg[edit]

Image:Behindgreendoor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:10, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph[edit]

I notice that some effort appears to be being made to use recent photographs of adult film stars of the 70's through 90's, when most of them have lost some or most of their attractiveness. Contrast this to the 1968 picture of Brigette Bardot in her Wiki Article. This strikes me as a subtle but definite violation of the Wikipedia policy against expressing bias. Dick Kimball (talk) 21:02, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

People age; that is not a bias, it's a fact. Bardot's article shows both photos of her younger and older. 2605:E000:21C7:4700:B811:349E:4694:116E (talk) 07:11, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What you described is a subjective opinion and nothing more.

Details[edit]

Why is her weight listed? Seems biased to include her weight when weights of most entertainment figures aren't listed...and surely her weight fluctuated over her lifetime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.182.72.79 (talk) 07:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blood Group: Red - does it matter the blood group? and Natural bust: yes/no - if you don't know just delete it are they needed at all?

Blood group is considered to be a characteristic feature in Japan, a bit like the star sign in the Western world. Maikel 18:15, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
which would actually be a good reason for deletion ... Maikel 18:27, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

Noticeably longer than a stub. Close to B-Class, in fact, with more sources. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 06:09, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional link[edit]

I removed the link:

since it is an obvious ad to sell the book. UltraEdit (talk) 06:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reference #9 seems to be a spam link? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.80.254.32 (talk) 02:29, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace[edit]

The text says she was born in Providence, Rhode Island, while the info box says she was born in Westport, Connecticut. Which, if either, is correct? Mapjc (talk) 01:00, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

I find it by Google news. [1] --Dafengluobote (talk) 13:39, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She really live in a trailer?[edit]

I have seen a few news articles that said "mobile home", but is that true? I mean was she filming a movie? I assumed she had enough money where she wouldn't have to live in a trailer not that there is anything wrong with trailers... Is this info really verifiable? It seems most of the news stories are just copying from the same one. Azalea pomp (talk) 06:36, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure it was her home. I doubt she was making a whole lot of money. Also, I suspect mobile homes in the Canyon Country Los Angeles area aren't cheap. Out of curiosity I googled it, and one residence community was selling them for $100,000+. Шизомби (talk) 14:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you are living alone, or a couple, a mobile home may be a good choice for you. You don't have the hassle and expense of taking care of a big stick house. You don't tie up a lot of money that you may want to invest or use for other purposes. A few years back many people considered stick houses to be overpriced so they bought a mobile home instead. Some homeowners have taken a terrible financial beating recently as they've seen the value of their house plunge. Three or four years ago a good friend wanted to have a second home built on some property he owned up in the mountains. When he got expensive estimates from contractors to build a new stick house, he said nuts to that and bought a very nice new mobile home to put on his property. I know there is a prejudice against mobile home owners in some quarters, but I think it is absurd. ~ Mustang Ed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.126.87.3 (talk) 21:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Was she not diagnosed with HIV years before her death?[edit]

I don't want to put in misinformation, but I was checking the wiki biography to find out her status since being diagnosed. But memory can be trecherous. 71.127.17.39 (talk) 01:35, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual orientation[edit]

The infobox used to state she was bisexual. She performed sexually with many men and women in porn, but was she actually of bisexual orientation, or just gay for pay? Alfred Kinsey (talk) 23:36, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck Traynor[edit]

Not a single mention of her marriage to Chuck Taylor (who also began Linda Lovelace's career)? Seems kind of odd, since that fact is notable enough to appear in both the Chuck Traynor and Linda Lovelace articles. Any opinions before I add this info? 38.109.88.194 (talk) 01:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

His name was Chuck Traynor, not Chuck Taylor, so I changed the misspelling. I don't understand how this could be left out of an article about her either.Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 21:10, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:AngelofHEAT.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:AngelofHEAT.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 31 December 2011

Writing Career[edit]

Marilyn Chambers was the author of a number of books, including some well received sex manuals such as "The Illustrated KAMA SUTRA" and "Sensual Secrets".

Perhaps this should be mentioned? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.10.243.73 (talk) 12:40, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Trouble archiving links on the article[edit]

Hello. I am finding myself repeatedly archiving links on this page. This usually happens when the archive doesn't recognize the archive to be good.

This could be because the link is either a redirect, or I am unknowingly archiving a dead link. Please check the following links to see if it's redirecting, or in anyway bad, and fix them, if possible.

In any event this will be the only notification in regards to these links, and I will discontinue my attempts to archive these pages.

Cleveland arrest[edit]

If Chambers was arrested in Cleveland, either the chages were dropped or she was prosecuted. The entry does not say. Nicmart (talk) 20:14, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article makes you feel like you’re listening to some girlish chatter[edit]

It feels like the article was written by the daughter of this porn actress. Everywhere the refrain sounds, far from encyclopedic style, regret, annoyance and touching complicity in the fate of a woman who chose the path of easy money. Constant quotes, some semi-apocryphal near-Hollywood stories about something or other, attempts to glorify a generally mediocre film performer indicate that the text was written by a personally interested person. And such a person is the daughter of the heroine of the article - McKenna Marie Taylor. I'm 90% sure of this. In reality, the volume can be reduced by four times without loss of meaning. 176.37.80.198 (talk) 01:53, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What about "The Marilyn Diaries" (1990)?[edit]

This movie apparently debuted on TNT in April 1990. There is no mention of it in the filmography. But my research on a related topic in newspaper archives turned up a huge number of replays on TV all through the 1990s. Cpacker666 (talk) 04:53, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
