Nickname

[edit]

what i said about matt lindland receiving his nickname "the law" was accurate , why was it deleted and called vandalism?

Wikipedia requires that material be cited from reliable sources, so even if the nickname origin is true it has to be sourced. I've removed it pending a reliable source. MrVibrating (talk) 22:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

68.188.200.53 (talk) 18:01, 4 May 2011 (UTC)no offense, but are you kidding? watch one of his fights. they call him matt 'the law' lindland. how is that not reliable? youtube alone probably has about a hundred sources. how about sherdog? http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Matt-Lindland-276 search google for about a million more. do we really need to be that strict about policies for something everyone knows is true? they dont on most other wiki pages, why should they on lindland's?[reply]

do we really need to be that strict about policies for something everyone knows is true? Yes.  Mr JM  05:18, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Matt is definitely The Law http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-26657-juicy_suits_ultimate_fighter_matt_the_law_lindland.html

Unsourced claim

[edit]

"He is often ranked as the number one fighter in his weight class." I have removed this in accordance with the living persons biography policy as it is controversial and entirely unsourced. - Mule Man 13:28, 20 October 2006 (UTC) Also his record seems ok, but his fight for UFC 43, Meltdown, it was not TKO by slam, he knocked himself out going for a takedown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.45.81.26 (talk) 15:19, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

UFC Contract Dispute

[edit]

Anybody know what contract clause he violated? Was it something to do with having the name of a gambling site on his shorts?--HardCopy 18:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Matt Lindland was never a Div1A All-American wrestler in college.

[edit]

There was a statement saying Lindland won the Big 12 Championship in 1993 and became an All-American. This implied that Lindland achieved Div1A All-American after winning the 1993 Big 12 title. That was a misleading statement. He was actually a Junior College National Champ in 1991, and hence a Jr College All American in 1991.

Lindland's senior year at Nebraska he was undefeated and the #1 seed in the 158 pound weight class, but he lost his first match. He was unable to participate in the consolation rounds because the wrestler who beat him (Earl Walker- Boston University) lost his next match. Mr Lindland failed to become All American any of the years he wrestled at Nebraska (Div1A). I'm providing a reference to the brackets for the 1993 wrestling tournament.

Challenging claim

[edit]

I challenge the unsourced assertion that Lindland knocked himself out. PortlandOregon97217 (talk) 03:24, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
