Collapsable?

[edit]

I have heard that the TAC-50 can be collapsed/dismantled/field stripped for easy transport and reassembled (relatively) quickly at the sniper's destination. I, however, cannot confirm this (admittedly, my source was rather dubious). Is this true, and if so does it warrant a mention in the article? 169.233.49.73 (talk) 23:27, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The only parts of the gun that can be removed for "ease of transport" are the suppressor (assuming one is fitted) and the buttstock, both of which can be screwed/unscrewed off and on. I don't know why someone has written that this rifle has a side-folding stock, because it does not. 216.36.154.122 (talk) 03:15, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian

[edit]

Didnt a canadian sniper make a kill with this from 2400 meters? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.24.37.50 (talk) 23:05, 9 October 2007

Yep. Longest recorded kill-shot ever I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.123.62.68 (talk) 02:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At the stated muzzle velocity of 823 m/s, the bullet took a full 3 seconds to reach the target at 2430 meters. That's a long hang time for such a precision shot.--ZirbMonkey (talk) 19:57, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is definatly impressive, and the gun, in my opinion is a extremely attractive gun, more so than the barret 50. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.65.46.122 (talk) 15:17, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cpl. Robert Furlong - Canadian Forces, holds record for longest kill shot recorded at 1.5 miles (2414 meters). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.17.129.178 (talk) 15:26, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New record 3,450 meters, set by member of Canadian Special Forces Joint Task Force 2 - https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/canadian-elite-special-forces-sniper-sets-record-breaking-kill-shot-in-iraq/article35415651/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.171.134.162 (talk) 02:06, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Updated 'Deployment'

[edit]

I updated the 'deployment' section with the details on the latest recorded 'longest sniper kill' which should have been updated back in 2009.Twobells (talk) 21:38, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the editing help Rog5728, I should have used the term 'chambered', thanks very much! Ps; I like the FN too but in 7.62 :-) Twobells (talk) 21:55, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. ROG5728 (talk) 22:10, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

can i use it?

[edit]

will they sell this to me? or is it military use only?69.171.164.55 (talk) 06:37, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your link for Reference 2 is bad I think, can you confirm?? I'll check this pc for a redirector too, but it seems consistent and isolated... .[1] Ljettinger (talk) 15:44, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tac 338

[edit]

Is it the same weapon with a different chamber and barrel to accommodate the .338 round, or should there be a new article? BP OMowe (talk) 23:42, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TAC not Tac

[edit]

I believe the correct spelling is with capitals "TAC" and not "Tac". IQ125 (talk) 11:33, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
