Semi-protected edit request on 1 October 2021[edit]

miHoYo joined the communist party on the 24th September, 2021. [11] this line is invalid, if you read the source, it only says that the CCP division on mihoyo is upgraded from party branch to party committee. Not joined the communist party, since all corporation in China need to have CCP branch on them. Please re-verify to someone that are natives china. Secretrizqi (talk) 09:01, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks for pointing out, I have answered your edit request. WikiSilky (talk) 06:06, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Downloading it[edit]

So I'm sorry if I am bothering you all but I would like you to make Genshin impact available for Moto e7i because I used to have it on my old phone and I loved it and now I got my new phone and I can't get it on the play store so if you are all able to get it on that would be amazing great game👍 2A02:C7E:3244:2D00:54AD:B0FA:243C:31BE (talk) 21:24, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a year late, but you cannot use the wikipedia talk page as a way to discuss the topics (ie. the game and it's issues). This is a place for discussions about the article itself, and it's issues (ie. information mistakes and updates to it's information.) Imoutofchoices (talk) 23:01, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

N0va Desktop[edit]

Shouldn't N0va Desktop also be part of their products? Albiet it's not a game and just an application, they still made it. 2001:4450:8371:CA00:9DF2:41EC:EBD1:79DC (talk) 14:47, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

who is CEO?[edit]

shouldn't Liu Wei be CEO of Mihoyo? as Cai Haoyu move to Hoyoverse CEO. is this data up-to-date? is party secretary a company appointment or a union one? it was never mention again in the article and just seem to be inserted without context, so is it party secretary or committee secretary? also that link 81 is dead so i can't tell which term is correct. need a new source to verify the translation. 101.127.8.197 (talk) 15:43, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Cai Haoyu is the CEO of both Shanghai miHoYo Network Technology Co., Ltd. ("miHoYo") and its subsidiary company Cognosphere Pte., Ltd. ("HoYoverse"). According to the original news article by miHoYo, Liu Wei was elected as Party committee secretary through democratic elections.

Proposed merge of HoYoverse into MiHoYo[edit]

All the coverage for HoYoverse is really discussing miHoYo. I think the coverage of this brand should be discussed under miHoYo rather than spun off like this. Also seeing a lot of WP:SYNTH, unreliable sources, and trivial mentions. Awesome Aasim 01:46, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: In agreement with the previous reply. This HoYoverse article is solely discussing the brand, and its history, without bringing in irrelevant information. Merging the miHoYo and HoYoverse pages into a single article is unnecessarily confusing for people since the two brands are separate and are operated by different companies.
I encourage (User:Qiii777) to edit the miHoYo page instead as done before.
One comment on the previous reply. Regarding Zenless Zone Zero, this game is actually developed by miHoYo, HoYoverse does the global publishing. Paimon123 (talk) 06:18, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are all under the control of miHoYo. The subsidiary which just publishes has questionable notability, as does this brand. Awesome Aasim 18:26, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you base that conclusion on? I have not seen anything that proves that miHoYo owns HoYoverse. Considering this, instead of making assumptions about their relationship, I think we should objectively describe both separately. This ensures that Wikipedia does not make assumptions that we cannot check. Based on HoYoverse's and miHoYo's website, LinkedIn, etc., they seem to be operating separately, while partnering on some of their games. For example, if we look at HoYoLAB, miHoYo does not mention this product, only HoYoverse does. Houkai Gakuen 2 is only mentioned by miHoYo. Paimon123 (talk) 06:32, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I had come across this ongoing discussion just today. I could contribute some information.
Anarticle published by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, a legitimate government source, does confirm that the Hoyoverse brand was launched by miHoYo itself:

今年2月,米哈游推出新品牌HoYoverse,意在“打造一个由内容驱动的宏大虚拟世界,融合游戏、动画和其他多种娱乐类型”,布局沉浸式虚拟领域。In February of this year, miHoYo launched a new brand called HoYoverse, aiming to "create a vast and content-driven virtual world that integrates games, anime, and other diverse types of entertainmen," laying out plans for the immersive virtual field.

AnACRA business profile also reveals that Luo Yuhao, one of the co-founders of miHoYo and a director on the board of directors, as part of Cognosphere Pte. Ltd. Jiang Dawei, a producer of miHoYo's Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail, is also on miHoYo's board of directors as a director. Both Luo and Jiang are confirmed as directors of Cognosphere by this document. The CEO of miHoYo and Cognosphere, Cai Haoyu, seems to be represented by the shareholder platform listed at the end of the document. (I give credit to a collaborator of mine for sharing this document with me.)

Comment: How a merge is possible is debatable. But I don't think Hoyoverse passes notability and would recommend to nominate for WP:AFD. IgelRM (talk) 17:51, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is always quick and dirty merge where no information is actually moved between articles. Awesome Aasim 22:32, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also skeptical about the notability, though now I'm wondering if Cognosphere is truly a "subsidiary of miHoYo" per this page's claim. Is there a reliable source that can prove their connections other than Cognosphere publishing miHoYo's games? SuperGrey (talk) 10:11, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How is a publisher of award-winning games, a company that has booths at major game events like gamescom, a company with 5 offices globally, a company that causes social impact through sponsoring of music and nature-preservation (see their LinkedIn [https://www.linkedin.com/company/hoyoverse]), not be notable? For all these things, I did not see the name of miHoYo. Think about it from a player's point of view. They play a game and see HoYoverse. They want to know what HoYoverse is, and search on Wikipedia. They can only find miHoYo. I find this unnecessarily confusing.
As mentioned above, I have not seen anything that proves that miHoYo owns HoYoverse. Considering this, instead of making assumptions about their relationship, I think we should objectively describe both separately. This ensures that Wikipedia does not make assumptions that we cannot check. Paimon123 (talk) 06:36, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Paimon123 Notability means that it meets very specific criteria in terms of coverage so that no original research is required to assume information, and if the latter is required the subject is not notable. We can't synthesize primary sources, only state what reliable sources have said about primary sources or the like. HoYoverse has very little coverage, but miHoYo has a lot. Awesome Aasim 17:21, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support as HoYoverse/COGNOSPHERE is just the international branch of miHoYo. Cai Haoyu is presented as the "co-founder and CEO" of HoYoverse in its introductory post[1] and per his Wikipedia article, he's also the "co-founder and CEO" of miHoYo. It is not uncommon for Chinese companies to establish international branches to make publishing their games outside China easier. This is also backed up by a Kotaku article.[2] I therefore see no need to split miHoYo and HoYoverse into separate articles. --KingErikII (Talk page) 11:20, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Developer/publisher in lead[edit]

@Kingerikthesecond: I suppose the lead needs a proper discussion, regarding revert that "HoYoverse is more common in English-language sources than miHoYo". My concern remains that separate developer and publisher names should only be be mentioned if they are independently relevant. Here this is appears to be one organization and which article is named MiHoYo. I could see a note that MiHoYo is also known as HoYoverse, but without distinguishing between developer/publisher. Regards IgelRM (talk) 19:08, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well it appears I misunderstood, sorry about that. Looking at the article for Zenless Zone Zero, the lede states that the game is "developed and published by miHoYo (with publishing outside mainland China under Cognosphere, d/b/a HoYoverse)". I do agree that there is no real need to separate miHoYo and HoYoverse since they're the same company. Thus it's probably appropriate to add the same description to the lede of the Genshin Impact article. Thanks for clarifying! --KingErikII (Talk page) 20:03, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I note your revert was justified as it wasn't great editing. For some reason the Genshin Impact article had a different lead sentence dev/pub sentence than the MiHoYo's other games, but I think you are correct that it is the same. IgelRM (talk) 02:40, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
