Category[edit]

The category Category:1918 establishments in Slovenia has been removed without any explanation. I don't think the separate elements of the category are under discussion, the museum was established in 1918 and is located in Slovenia (heck, it is the National Gallery of Slovenia!). So probably people have a problem with the combination, because the countryname in 1918 wasn't Slovenia. Somehow, this isn't a problem with people categories like Category:People from Vodice, SloveniaorCategory:Slovenian geographersorCategory:Slovenian religious leaders which also contains people from long before the independent country Slovenia existed. So why the different treatment for people and museums? Why allow Category:Slovenia in World War II and not Category:1918 establishments in Slovenia? I have no objection to anyone wanting to create a Category:1918 establishments in State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs and making this category a member of that category, I have no intention of denying that Slovenia was part of another country at the time.

But if I, as a reader, want to know how the current country Slovenia evolved, when current (or past) institutions in current Slovenia emerged, then categories like this one are a good help. What happened in the past in what is currently Slovenia? Fram (talk) 08:14, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
