This article is written in Ghanaian English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, realise, analyse, defence) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

This article was nominated for merging with Eyecare in the Western Region (Ghana) on 21 March 2011. The result of the discussion (permanent link) was Merge Eyecare in the Western Region (Ghana) with Eye care in Ghana.

I think joining the two articles will not be necessary. Because:

• Optometry in Ghana is a new field and joining it to eye care will not be appropriate
• the article is a good stand alone as it brings out far more than the eye care in the country
• many of the heading in the article will not fit well with the other article if merged
• Leaving them separate will bring out the two topics more

There should be some kind of link created so that readers can jump from this page (Optometry in Ghana) to the other (Eye care in Ghana). The page "Eye care in Ghana" seems to address the problems and deficits, whereas this page is talking about new developments -- the link made between the two would provide the whole picture of the situation. A brief note re the above - following a merge discussion from 2011 I have merged Eye care in the Western Region (Ghana) into Eye care in Ghana. This is unrelated to this merge discussion re "Eye care in Ghana" vs "Optometry in Ghana." Adding this note to avoid confusion between overlapping merge proposals. It seems to me it would make more sense to merge "Optometry in Ghana" into "Eye care in Ghana" since the latter is the more inclusive topic and its article already contains information about ophthalmology, optometry, etc. Scrawlspacer (talk) 10:59, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
