Name shortening[edit]

It is not clear to me why the name of this page has been amended. I think the edit should be reverted, so that the page name is again in line with the name of the World Heritage Site. -Alan (talk) 14:46, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The" is only seldom used these days and virtually all the Wiki articles and the categories on Veneto do not include "the" in their name. Almost everyone uses Veneto without "the". It is almost a mistake to do differently. Would you ever use "of the France" or "of the Bavaria" or "of the New Mexico"? Definitely not.
Is this an article on the "Palladian Villas of Veneto" or on the World Heritage Site named "City of Vicenza and Palladian Villas of the Veneto"? Is it a generic article on Palladian villas or an article on the villas and the other buildings included in the World Heritage Site (some of which are in Vicenza)? In the first case we should use the current shortened name ("villas" would be even more correct in this case), in the second one we should move the page to "City of Vicenza and Palladian Villas of the Veneto" and make it encompass also the Palladian treasures of Vicenza. In my view it would be better to have two separate pages, one of which would have to be on the World Heritage Site as it is: it is original research not to include in that page also the buildings in Vicenza.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I think the WHS deserves its own page. -Alan (talk) 20:04, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Very good, we are in perfect agreement. Would you be able to split the article in two, so that we would have one on the Palladian villas of Veneto and an other one titled City of Vicenza and Palladian Villas of the Veneto? I'm worried that I have not enough knowledge on the subject to do it by myself. Can anyone else help us with this? Ghirla? --Checco (talk) 20:41, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'd be willing to start an article on the WHS. I don't know enough to do the subject justice, but I can think of one or two editors who would be well informed. -Alan (talk) 21:33, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good job with the new article, Alan! I have moved the article to the current title (with "villas" not capitalized), removed the WHS infobox and remodelled the intro. Please feel free to review my edits. --Checco (talk) 07:45, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citations[edit]

This is a very nice article, and looks to be pretty comprehensive. But it is almost completely devoid of citations, with a grand total of three, one at the beginning, and two at the end. The fourth is a footnote, which suggests the vast bulk of the text is an, attributed, translation from the Italian. Does it not need some more cites?
