Of course Satish Kumar and his companion used ships to cross the channel and the atlantic, something I know all about myself; see Pet passport. I have changed the article but I think people can figure out for themselves that Satish did not cross water, no more than Jesus, so please do not vandalise my site--Scuiqui fox 20:52, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Wikipedia is no more "your site" than it is any of ours. And that was a valid question - people have walked on water (with the help of large flotation skis). Zetawoof 22:33, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Kumar could not have walked across water in the sixties on Flotation skis because they had not been invented. Besides which you could have asked not 'did they walk on water?' but 'did they cross water on flotation skis?' If they had done so in the sixties across the Atlantic we would all know about it. At the very least your comment was absurd, and your excuses lame. It is not my wiki, but I have the right to keep it clean--Scuiqui fox 13:41, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Nice idea for page, could use expanding such as including other notable walks

[edit]

I like the idea of this page - peace walks have been going on a long time and I don't see any other general page on them on Wikipedia. I think it would improve the page to see more notable peace walks listed with information, such as the Great Peace March in 1986 and some led by Native Americans.

I added a few myself, then got to correcting grammar, such as the need for commas in some sentences, and some other sections. I generally don't like to see information in parentheses as Wiki is an encyclopedia project, not a blog. I grew up reading encyclopedias and don't recall reading a lot of information in parentheses. I also tried to find more verifiable sources, such as the walks covered by media. It improves the page to have inline citations to those verifiable sources. See what you think.

I also think a section on how peace walks have made a concrete impact would be an improvement to the understanding of why they occur. The civil rights movement can point to how the Freedom bus rides made a great impact on effecting change, as people were horrified seeing nonviolent activists beaten by racists on the evening news. How do these walks made a difference in bringing about peace? That may be hard to find specific examples since who knows what inspires an official to make a change. But a section on pointing to potential or real impacts would be helpful. Bgbg4444 (talk) 23:41, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
