Removal of phrase for which it is unlikely for there to be reliable, published sources[edit]

Thapkhay (talk) 04:35, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. With regards to the Tarthang Tulku line starting "prior to this"... biographical material should be presented chronologically, so when does this actually fit into the timeline - and can it be sourced? Skyerise (talk) 21:36, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent question. I see now that even “Annals of the Nyingma Lineage in America”, covering 1969-1975, by Dharma Publishing, states that it is “Published February, 1975 as a private document” which makes it useless ( I assume.) The time frame associated with Nyingma Institute etc was a little later, spread out between 1978 and 1984 (so I missed that release),, so indeed it would go before the zen part.
If citing Nyingma Institue (who have all records, and were cited previously to demonstrate they basically still offer these programs), is insufficient, suggest we drop that sentence entirely, until, if and when, an appropriate printed source is found. Sorry for my error on my submittal in making that assumption…appreciate you identifying it and your considerable help on getting this to meet Wikipedia standards. References must be publicly available documents, published in books or journals, available for purchase or in libraries. They should be secondary, not primary, documents. In this case, one would expect coverage in, for example, a trade journal. If no secondary source has taken note of the employment, it is not considered a notable fact that should be included in a biographical article. Skyerise (talk) 10:26, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because it is perhaps the most accessible book available from the Tibetan tradition, seminary and public libraries may want this work.
