Moving to "Pillnitz Palace"[edit]

This is not a fortified structure/castle and never was. Thus it should be renamed to "Palace" or "Schloss". Cheers, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 13:31, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I support the idea and prefer Schloss Pillnitz, - we have an article Schloss for those who need help. See related discussion Moritzburg Castle. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:40, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, “castle” is used for a lot of places in Britain too which were never fortified (there's a list here), so I don't think the current name is all that confusing; and “palace” is generally reserved in English for official residences of royalty, so changing to that is unlikely to be an improvement. The usual English term for a place like this is simply “house” (viz Longleat House, Chatsworth House). As for schloss, if we stick to English, as we are supposed to, no-one will need any help at all. Moonraker12 (talk) 10:21, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We use Chateau, why not Schloss? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:28, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the website of Schloss Pillnitz https://www.schlosspillnitz.de/en/home/, the names are translated this way:
General name: Schloss Pillnitz = Pillnitz Palace
Wasserpalais = Riverside Palace
Bergpalais = Hillside Palace
Neues Palais = New Palace
--Myriam Thyes 12:55, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

But why move to palace and not Schloss Pillnitz, the most common name? I asked the same 7 years ago, see above. We have schloss. See Schloss Weimar and others. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:39, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I practically eliminated the word Castle - as misleading - from the article, using Schloss and Palace, and often just dropping it as default. The whole article is about the complex, no need to say east of it, west of it, gardens of it etc. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:50, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
