Untitled[edit]

hey, the "caida de tenochtitlan" (August 13) is not a holiday in Mexico, maybe a historical moment, but not a holiday. Mexico does celebrate both the "dia de reyes" (january 6) and christmas. but in "dia de reyes" you done have the day free. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN MEXICO''

Dia de Reyes[edit]

Should it be added? It is the day you get your Christmas presents, after all.

This page needs revision[edit]

Some holidays have changed in Mexico. Most changes tend to make the holiday a Monday. For example, Constitution Day is no longer celebrated on Feb 5 but on the first Monday of February and the Day of the Mexican Revolution is not November 20, but the third Monday in November.

I'm not sure about the other changes...

Franz

Be aware that for President Benito Juarez's Birthday in 2010, the thrid Monday in March is March 15th instead of March 21st.

Brian

http://www.netogram.com/2008/mexico.htm has a nice general 2008 calendar.

Edits 12/22/09 •I started from the back forward for almost exclusive style and grammar concerns, but got tired after completing one section •re: December 25 – inserted ‘and religious’ to be more accurate •re: February 19 – capitalized ‘Day’…inserted a ‘the’ •re: February 24 – switched the two sentences to reflect a uniform usage throughout the article •re: May 5 – inserted a missing comma after the ‘although’ phrase •re: September 15 – capitalized both ‘Creole’ and ‘Catholic’ •re: entire Festivities section – changed all occurrences of ‘an official holiday’ to ‘a state holiday’ for accuracy (i.e., it is an official church holiday; ‘official’ is too generic a descriptor); I would prefer that this sentence be reserved to general sectional comment remarks, or appended to the first remark with a semi-colon…changed the first several words of some remarks to achieve a uniformity of style throughout the article •re: Epiphany – inserted ‘the Biblical New Testament story of…’ to give reference and enhance neutrality; removed capitals from ‘Three Wise Men’…reworded the rest of the sentence solely to be less wordy…changed ‘kids’ to ‘children’ to reflect more formal usage…added a missing comma…reworded a later sentence because of confusing pronoun usage (they/you)…changed ‘in’ to ‘into’ for accuracy…changed ‘the mini-doll’ to ‘a figurine of the Christ child’ for accuracy and the ‘doll’ had not previously been referenced •re: Valentine’s Day – inserted ‘Celebrates amorous unions’ to achieve uniformity of style – I hope this is edit has tone-neutral acceptance •re: Father’s Day – capitalized ‘Sunday’ in first column… •re: All Saints’ Day – changed an ampersand (‘&’) to ‘and’ for formal usage…should mention be made of the 10/31 Night of the Dead, also traditionally celebrated? •re: All Souls’ Day – corrected spelling of ‘día’ to include its accent in order to reflect usage in the rest of the article…changed an ampersand (‘&’) to ‘and’ for formal usage •re: Las Posadas – changed ‘celebrates’ to ‘commemorates’ to better reflect practice…inserted ‘the Biblical New Testament story of…’ before Mary and Joseph to provide context for whom Mary and Joseph represent; perhaps this should be further edited to include a chapter and verse citation? •re: Christmas Eve – changed ‘as secular winter holiday’ to ‘as both a secular and religious winter holiday’ for stylistic and ontological purposes …added two missing spaces…twice corrected spelling of ‘Jell-O’ but am wondering if the author should prefer ‘gelatin’ instead…italicized ‘gelatina de colores’…changed ‘kids’ to ‘children’ to reflect a more formal style… shortened ‘the children’ and ‘the adults’ to just ‘children’ and ‘adults’ since they had not been previously referenced…added ‘usually’ before the word ‘accompanied’ since those activities are not intrinsic to the celebration •re: Day of the Innocents – ‘literaty’ misspelled and is probably meant ‘literary’, but regardless should be ‘literally’…added one comma, deleted an extraneous one, added quotes to the literal meanings •should the last three sections have the “not an official holiday” tag?

Where is dia de los muertos?[edit]

i thought that was one of the most important mexican celebrations —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.37.37.11 (talk) 03:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Semana Santa[edit]

Hey guys, the government, actually, gives us March 29th and 30th as statutory days. Check the Oficial Journal of the Federation (Diario Oficial de la Federación): http://www.dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5509856&fecha=02/01/2018

Please, add "Semana Santa" to the non-working days! ;) Renich (talk) 20:40, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
