In an aquarium

[edit]

This section is just a bunch of tips for keeping piranha. For inclusion in an encyclopedia, there should at least be cites. But it's debatable whether a how-to section should be there at all. --MijinLaw (talk) 21:35, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would argue for deleting at least parts of the aquarium section like for instance "check with your local...". It just isn't encyclopedia material. --dimi_z (talk) 23:40, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed most of the obvious how-to content as those types of content cannot be added on Wikipedia, since it is an encyclopedia. This article needs references to cite all of the facts and content, and the "media" section should be rewritten as well. - M0rphzone (talk) 02:42, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Behavioral Ecology Peer Review

[edit]

Great additions about behavior! I only made a few minor changes to grammar and the way things were worded to provide clarity. I added the class banner to the top of the talk page so that other Wikipedia users will know that this is the subject of a class project. I also threw in a few more wiki links for fauna, carnivore, harmonic and conspecific. In addition, I added a [citation needed] to the intro, although I assume you are going to clean the intro up in the next 1,000 word assignment to make it reflect the entire article. Great job overall! Claire.Edelman (talk) 18:31, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Overall, very well done. Everything seems to be touched on, even if it's just a little bit of information on it. I have added wiki pinks for insects, worms, fish, and dolphins. The additions to the behavior section are very well done. Nice and short descriptions to get to the purpose of each section. It would be interesting to see a section about any human interactions with the red bellied piranha. Junsu.shinn (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:11, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good stuff! Your sections are successful at covering the topic without being overly specific or technical which is something I struggled with. I made a few grammatical corrections and removed the subheading about mating season because it seemed to be perfectly natural under the more general reproduction subheading. Under shoaling you mention opercular rates which is the one place in your addition where I felt I was missing some information. Adding the wiki link helps but you might add a brief explanation in the article so Im not forced to go to another page to understand the section. The rest of this page is pretty thin so you have many opportunities to add info about morphology, taxonomy, evolution, and human interaction with piranhas. Otherwise, I think what you added on behavior was very thorough and you would know better than I what else can be added there. Nice job. Andrewkamel (talk) 01:49, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, great job on this page. I like the divisions in the behavior section; you were very thorough covering all bases. Not just one area of study which is good to see. What I did to the page is fix a few structural/grammer issues, you change between plural and singular a lot in the same sentence, for an easier read. In addition, sometimes there is a bit of unnecessary wording. For example, as if you were trying to say “I eat cereal” but instead put “I pick up my spoon, bring it to my mouth, chew, swallow”. There is still much that can be added to this page, which is a plus, perhaps mating and breeding would be a good place to start. Diet and feeding behavior seems like it could be expanded on, it seems to just be touched upon in a very broad sense as well as shoaling. Adding some detailed research findings to these sections would do the article much justice. liu.alexander (talk) 22:05, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Final Peer Edits

[edit]

VERY nice article. Generally well written and clear. I would use only the common name in the meat of the article. I noticed that sometimes you did use the scientific name and I think it would be better to just use one name for the species. Also, you frequently use 'sometimes' in your sentences, which is not necessary in many spots. Consider removing the word in some instances. The second sentence under 'Diet and Feeding Behavior' has an un-agreeing subject-verb combo (one is singular, one is plural). The second paragraph under 'Diet and Feeding Behavior' only has one reference at the end of the paragraph. Consider adding in other references to the sentences within the paragraph. (This goes for the entire article, actually. I think you'll face less scrutiny by the GA people if you add in those references). I would also fix the 'citation needed' tag under "Piranha in media", or delete that section alltogether - it seems sort of unnecessary to the article in my opinion if you cannot find a reference for that paragraph. Also, you should add a few more pictures. Pictures are a great way to break up the text of the article. Overall, very nice job! Ldorn1227 (talk) 15:20, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bézier curve

ABézier curve is a parametric curve used in computer graphics and related fields. The curve, which is related to the Bernstein polynomial, is named after Pierre Bézier, who used it in the 1960s for designing curves for the bodywork of Renault cars. Other uses include the design of computer fonts and animation. Bézier curves can be combined to form a Bézier spline, or generalized to higher dimensions to form Bézier surfaces.
