Untitled[edit]

Why is it still called the Royal Irish Academy of Music? I thought Ireland had renounced the monarchy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.169.162.100 (talk) 15:26, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well they became independent from the rest of the UK which isn't quite the same thing. However my guess would be that as the title 'Royal' is something that is officially granted by a Royal Charter, which was probably never rescinded, and the name was already strongly associated with the organisation they never bothered to change it. Categories[edit]

Category:Alumni of the Royal Irish Academy of Music exists but is not linked from this page; it is a child category of Category:Alumni of Dublin City University but no explanation of why. I was looking for a category for an honorary fellow, John Gilhooly. Someone more familiar with the RIAM might like to look at the related categories. Thanks. PamD 07:28, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
