The following comment was inserted into the main article by user Jacabl:
He did not restore the church clock (which was not defunct), but the Rector's long case grandfather clock (which was). The Rector was my grandfather, Revd. Edward Hamilton Blyth. His youngest daughter, my aunt, remembers him mending the clock and wondering how such large hands could do such delicate work. He lived in a cottage on the Shaftesbury Road in Barford St. Martin.
I have reinserted the original text, which is referenced in Jonathan Betts' book. Wikipedia does not accept personal memory or testimony as a reliable source - even though it may well be. Memory is partial and fallible and a host of other things. The editor might well remember being told about Gould mending the longcase clock, but we don't know a) that this memory is correct or that the hearsay he was told is correct; b) that Gould didn't also fix the church clock and c) that this is a memory at all - the editor might be a hoaxer. We have to rely on reliable published sources, which Betts certainly is. 86.155.207.128 (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
