I'm rewriting this from scratch. Manzoni is a noted researcher on this topic, having published eight books and innumerable articles on exactly this phenomenon in business, and yet we're citing psych data from pop paperbacks and things that predate the term? I would like to suggest that the article be renamed to something along the lines of Set up for failure or something similar. In common parlance, a victim is "set up to fail", but not "setting up to fail" (ungrammatical). Further, the perpetrator "sets someone up for failure". In other words, the present tense "set" seems more grammatically appropriate than present perfect "setting", as this implies a continuing effort which seems beyond the scope of interest. The section on the 9/11 Commission itself being set up to fail does not seem to be an example of what the article is about since it does not seem to be an example of targeting or bullying individuals to hurt their careers. IMO. PopSci (talk) 19:24, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
