I found the image:fp-map.gif confusing, not sure whether the adjacent archipelagos were part of the Society Islands or not. The new map image:French Polynesia map.jpg while unfortunately .jpg also provides details and labels for individual islands to complement their listing in the article. To this end I provided a direct link to the hi-res in the caption. A similarly detailed PNG or SVG map just of the Society Islands would be better, but I think/hope this change makes the best use of existing resources.Jauntymcd22:28, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
islv is the acronym for『îles sous le vent』("Leeward islands" in english/or "raro mata'i" (raromatai) in the tahitian translation) and not Society islands. I've been several time on Huahine and i never saw or heard of such a flag. User:Nevers
Weren't the Windward Islands once called the Georgian Islands instead while the Leeward Islands were the Society Islands? --KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:18, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
