Can you help?[edit]

We need some modern day images of the SAPOL uniform and vehicles that have been implemented into SAPOL in the last 3 years. If you have any that you've taken yourself, please upload them to the commons.wikimedia.org. We can add them to the page from there. Ethan Vixen (talk) 08:01, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

History needs updating[edit]

The History section needs more information. Help if you can. Ethan Vixen (talk) 08:01, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Moved[edit]

SAPOL has moved. Therefore, I will be changing the address in the info box on the right hand side. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.43.227.18 (talk) 18:05, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page is rather messy[edit]

The page could use a tidy up, some images seem unnecessary, list of commissioners might be better served on a seperate article, some information seem out dated of incorrectly sourced. SNITZ01 (talk) 06:22, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't check the sourcing, but moved the list to the end of the article, as is usual practice for article layout for lists and long tables. (I think there's a guideline about this somewhere but don't remember the shortcut.) Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:39, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Protective Security Officers[edit]

There is little to no information on this article about PSOs. PSOs played a significant role in SAPOLs COVID-19 response. SNITZ01 (talk) 07:32, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Added a section on PSOs, now known as Police Security Officers. Additional information such as ranks etc would be great if anyone can find a source. SNITZ01 (talk) 01:22, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

More notable incidents[edit]

This page is missing a numbr of notable incidents SNITZ01 (talk) 01:25, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you are aware of notable incidents with significant media coverage (which concern SAPOL or its officers, not just random crimes), feel free to add them! Laterthanyouthink (talk) 06:42, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have been ;) but there may be others I'm not remembering. SNITZ01 (talk) 07:41, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Guide for notable incidents[edit]

I've noticed some indcidents that are being added to the notable incidents section that don't meet WP:NPOV guidelines. Additionally, when adding to the section, please also only add incidents that have recieved significant coverage WP:NOTTEMPORARY. SNITZ01 (talk) 01:18, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know if I'm wrong, but I believe the standard of WP:NOTTEMPORARY is for the creation of a new Wikipedia page, not for every element to be included on pages. I agree the sections that were removed were not WP:NPOV , but I think they may still be notable in the context of SAPOL. When I have time I will look into the matters (this is the police officer accused of working as a sex worker, and the two officers who were stood down following criminal investigation into their tasering and pepper spraying of an elderly man). Any thoughts welcomed in the meantime. Andykusama (talk) 04:38, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

SAPOL Service Medal[edit]

This is only presented to sworn employees (current and former). As from 2 August 2008 Protective Security Officers employed under the South Australia Protective Security Act 2007 also became eligible for the SAPOL Service Medal and Clasps - as per the Commissioner’s determination dated 29 February 2019.

Not to unsworn members as indicted in the article 14.2.18.120 (talk) 00:01, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a reference that meets the WP:VER policy, you should make the changes with that reference.
As a side note, the South Australia Protective Security Act 2007 is no longer in force, the police act was updated to include PSOs. SNITZ01 (talk) 03:30, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
