What is going on here?

[edit]

There is an extant company called soy boy that makes vegetarian food products and markets them across the U.S. Why is this page only for the insult? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.128.124 (talk)

"Misleadingly"? I've seen research that says different

[edit]

Not some hack nutritionist either, but peer-reviewed evidence. See here https://cancerpreventionresearch.aacrjournals.org/content/8/11/1036.short — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phil of rel (talkcontribs) 23:00, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence/claim in question is: "[...] The term is based on the presence of phytoestrogen contained within soybeans, which have led some to conclude that soy products feminize men who consume them." The linked article seems to me to be woefully inadequate evidence to back this statement. TucanHolmes (talk) 09:54, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Misleadingly or not - that sentence in the lead is not sourced at all.

[edit]

" which have led some to misleadingly conclude that soy products feminize men who consume them.『 There is no source whatsoever given for this asertion.

I intend to remove it as unsourced and replace it by 』which have led to claims that soy products feminize men who consume them." Wefa (talk) 05:14, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This term in relation to intersectionality

[edit]

This article already contains information about the pseudoscientific belief that soy products estrogenize their consumers. I've observed that this belief results in the term "soyboy" sometimes being used as a homophobic, transphobic, vegaphobic and/or anti-liberal microaggression. This usage takes advantage of sexist stereotypes as well. People who use "soyboy" as a microaggression often try to connect veganism and vegan movements to feminism, LGBT rights movements and non-conservative ideas, in a similar fashion to conspiracy theorists.

I don't have any sources but I just wanted to say this here to see if anyone wants to add anything about this observation to the article. I don't know how long this has been going on but it must've been before 2021, probably 2020. 205.213.208.210 (talk) 19:28, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you have no sources, this material will not be added. Maxx-♥ talk and coffee ☕ 19:45, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"The consumption of soybean oil was found to decrease the levels of oxytocin" source?

[edit]

It says that "The consumption of soybean oil was found to decrease the levels of oxytocin" but this does not seem to have a source. Is there a (reliable) source for this claim? 2A02:A440:D9A5:1:949F:136F:4C4:21D (talk) 19:21, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
