The paragraph states that supernovae type 1a most commonly occur from a white dwarf pulling matter from a companion star, and that collisions between white dwarves are very rare in comparison. This information is dated from 2012. Recent studies (2019/2020) posit that these collisions are much more frequent than previously believed, and might even comprise the majority of 1a's.
