CSS[edit]

The Combat Service Support section is badly written it confuses crops with regiment and units. It also says that CSS Corps are only in the regular army????? What about all the CSSBs and FSBs in the reserves???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TInTIn (talkcontribs) 06:47, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the Combat Service Support section, removed references to corps and added the various units.Glenn Sisson (talk) 03:03, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

11 Bde[edit]

As of approximately the middle of this year the 11 Bde moved to 2nd div (from 1 div), but I can't find a link so I won't change the page until I can find one! --TInTIn (talk) 03:23, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Training Command[edit]

IMO this article could benifit from the inclusion of a section on Training Comd - esp a list of the various schools (i.e. School of Infantry etc.) Anyone got any good sources? Anotherclown (talk) 02:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Forces Command[edit]

This article, the main Australian Army article and the associated diagram need to reflect the recent merging of Training and Land Command to form Forces Command. I know of the merging of the two commands, but I beleive there are also other changes involved, so will not update these myself.--TinTin (talk) 00:49, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Update 21Mar10. Forcomd.[edit]

I hope I havnt offended anyone by taking the liberty of updating this page. Changed Land to Forces comd, included the units of 6bde (armynews 18Mar10) and 17bde re wiki. Pse let me know if there is a prob with updating stuff like this cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.111.178.179 (talk) 12:33, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Reorganization[edit]

I have just finished updating the graphic commons:File:Australia Land Forces.png. One question remains tough: are the 21 and 22 Construction Regiments still active??? or have they been folded into the 19th Chief Engineer Works??? also: is the 17 Signals Regiment of the 17 Brigade the same as the 17 Command Support Regiment?? --noclador (talk) 15:36, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Combat Support Arms[edit]

The article separates the arms corps into Combat Arms and Combat Support Arms which I never heard when I served. Does anyone have any sources for this? 220.157.135.81 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:35, 24 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]

No reference, but the terms 'Combat', 'Combat Support' and 'Combat Service Support' are regularly used in the Australian Army and are part of doctrine. Anotherclown (talk) 21:54, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If it's part of doctrine then there will be a reference - and I never saw one. The terms always seemed to be used by infantry to distinguish their soldiers from mine (the ones with the big radio on their backs) 118.243.91.225 (talk) 14:38, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed new structure for this article[edit]

This article's current presentation of the Army's structure by different corps seems to do readers a disservice as it doesn't really explain the Army's actual command arrangements. I've developed a new structure, which uses a standard order of battle approach, at User:Nick-D/Drafts11. It still needs a bit of work (for instance, I'd like to include the HQ locations of each battalion/independent company) but I think that it's an improvement. Are there any objections to me copying this across? Any changes to the draft would also be very welcome. Nick-D (talk) 05:53, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No objections from me. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 06:09, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
or here. Big improvement in my view. Peacemaker67 (talk) 06:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense Nick, from my point of view pls feel free to make the proposed change. Just a few points though. Firstly there are a few inaccurracies in your draft due to recent name changes (specifically the 1st Field Regiment, RAA is now just 1st Regiment, RAA following the acquisition of 155 mm guns, while the Health Support Battalions have now also been renamed. 1 HSB is now the 1st Close Health Battalion, 2 HSB is now the 2nd General Health Battalion, while 3 HSB has remained unchanged). Also I think there might be a few signals squadrons missing from the reserve brigade ORBATs (specifically 5 BDE and 8 BDE). Lastly I wonder if there is a way of clarifying which formations and or units are regular and which are reserve? Thoughts? Anotherclown (talk) 03:10, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I've fixed those unit names. 2nd Division's website doesn't identify the 5th and 8th Brigades as currently having signals units, though it does also list elements of the 8th Signals Regiment (which is shown as reporting directly to the divisional headquarters) as being part of these brigades in the unit location maps. Nick-D (talk) 04:03, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Too easy Nick. Anotherclown (talk) 04:12, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As there seems to be no objections, I've just copied the material across from my user space. It still needs a bit of work, and all changes to it would be most welcome. Nick-D (talk) 04:52, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fleshing out training units[edit]

The work on the other areas is great but there is a lack of details of training establishments (things that used to belong to training command).

My understanding they are divided into the following but I lack detail:

-RMC-A

 .RMC-D
 .ARTC (aka Kapooka, 1 RTC)

-CATC .School of Inf .School of Arty .School of Armour -ALTC .School of Health .School of Ordnance .School of Tpt .School of EME .School of Log Ops

Anyone with a better idea of Army trg establishments would be great (note would not include ADF tri-service trg units).--TinTin (talk) 00:26, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's a great suggestion. If I read the Army's website correctly, Royal Military College of Australia reports directly to Forces Command and comprises RMC-Duntroon, the Army Recruit Training Centre and the Land Warfare Centre. Do you have a source for the other units? Nick-D (talk) 11:11, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I don't think I have sufficient knowledge off the top of my head. If I get some spare time I might have a search and see what I can find.--TinTin (talk) 23:42, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amalgamation of this page and historical Australian Army Structures[edit]

I'm personally new to this, but shouldn't these be amalgamated since they are same thing under the sub categories of historical and current. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IronBattalion (talkcontribs) 07:29, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are you referring to the Structure of the Australian Army during World War I and Structure of the Australian Army during World War II articles only? It seems sensible to keep them separate, as the articles are on different topics. Nick-D (talk) 07:34, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
At the time, Yes. However, as you know and I have learnt this is not according to the standards of Wikipedia (the naivety is somewhat displeasing). IronBattalion (talk) 04:07, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Corps and Regiments[edit]

Cooee Cobbers, I think we should add regiments and administrative Corps to the article as it provides a glimpse into the ceremonial structure of the army. IronBattalion (talk) 12:11, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

G'day, per our discussion at Talk:Australian Army I think that this would be ok so long as it is referenced. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 09:36, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm Doing this soon, but its probably more appropriate to link their respective pages IronBattalion (talk) 23:42, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
G'day, agreed, the links are good additions; probably only needs a short paragraph or so to summarise the section, IMO; it wouldn't need to duplicate the content in the linked articles. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 09:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Army ORBAT dated December 2020 including sub-units excluding SOCOMD[edit]

In January 2021, Defence released an Army ORBAT list under FOI that was current as at 31 December 2020 that excludes SOCOMD units if that is useful to anyone. The most recently available ORBAT before that was dated January 2018 and was a tree structure diagram available on the Army website. It didn't include sub-units. This article has an ORBAT image derived from the Jan 2018 ORBAT.--Melbguy05 (talk) 10:28, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
