Updating TAMUG

Should we update the TAMUG page to include all information included on the Texas A&M University page including "Student Life", "Athletics", "Academics", and then take other sections such as "Student publications and media" and simply apply the section to Texas A&M Galveston.

I appreciate everyone who has contributed to updating this page with information about the Texas Clipper. Hopefully students from Texas A&M Galveston will continue to contribute, since I've moved up to College Station and don't know what’s happening back in Galveston. Also, I'm attempting to maintain uniformity between all the Texas A&M wikipedia pages so some extent, so be sure to look at the other articles as well. -- Hut101 04:06, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel this page could use some discussion. The current name change according to their official web page is Texas A&M Galveston Campus, with a new logo. I feel we might need to update both the logo and this web pages logo picture. Other edits I feel could be better separation of sources. I feel the maritime academy should have a separate section, under which the corp, ships (already on the page) and the information could be organized into. After looking at the duplication report, I feel that most are just a few words here and there that would be difficult to express a different way. Maybe my wiki lack of experience is showing.MarlinespikeMate (talk) 08:12, 16 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Under the general history, the article says in 1962 that TAMUG began as marine laboratory and home of the TMA (without any citation). Nothing i've looked at has shown TMA and the Marine laboratory being united before 1971, when the "moody college" came about on pelican island. I believe from 1962 to 1971 it was only the Texas Maritime Academy of Texas A&M located at Fort Crocket. I've read there was a separate maritime laboratory before 1971 at the UTMC, but not sure how it was affiliated with A&M. Am I wrong?--MarlinespikeMate (talk) 03:00, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further research, I see the Marine Laboratory of the oceanography department of Texas A&M was housed at Fort Crockett in 1958. The Texas A&M Maritime Academy was housed 1962 at Fort Crockett with the marine laboratory. Around 1970 they were later moved to the pelican island land that was donated.--MarlinespikeMate (talk) 06:35, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So the hard part remains. When did the campus come about? Was it when A&M's oceanography department started in 1958? Was it when the Texas Maritime Academy was created under A&M in 1962? Or was it around 1971 when the Texas Maritime Academy and other majors moved to pelican island? Form what I've seen, the general consencus is 1962, upon creation of the Texas Maritime Academy. This is the backbone of the campus, and there wouldn't be a TAMUG without it.. I feel the current history is misleading, or not accurate (encyclopedic) enough.--MarlinespikeMate (talk) 20:17, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
