initially french[edit]

Was it not bilingual initially, not French language only? --Liberlogos 02:11, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)

There used to be a reproduction of the first issue at the Gazette printing office... 70.51.10.188 (talk) 08:50, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Montreal Gazette[edit]

Since this paper doesn't have the word "Montreal" in its name, should it be at The Gazette, à la The Times? - Montréalais 08:22, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Only if it can be absolutely proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that no other newspaper in the world can make a similar claim to be at the title The Gazette without a city name to disambiguate. Bearcat 01:29, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
What's on top of page 1 should be considered the title. If we need to disambiguate, I'd use "The Gazette (Montreal)", "The Gazette (Colorado Springs)", etc. Stickguy 01:56, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with making that the rule, as long as we're consistent about it. But I would also note that far more people call it the Montreal Gazette than not. Bearcat 02:03, 7 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
hello,i just want ask Have you traviling the world on the timr gapp of above? 196.190.62.140 (talk) 01:01, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

I have assessed this as a start class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub, although it requires more referencing. I have assessed this as Mid importance, as I feel that many readers would have some, though not in-depth, knowledge of the topic of the article. Cheers, CP 15:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Montrealgazette front.jpg[edit]

Image:Montrealgazette front.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Israeli-Palestinian conflict[edit]

The article should maybe mention The Gazette's editorial positions in Mideast conflicts. Also, there are other editorial positions that may be noteworthy, such as long-time coverage of Alliance Quebec's anglo-rights activism.

Circulation[edit]

Stats on the cited site were unavailable to public access. If a working external link can't be provided the numbers should be taken down. sochi_is_mine (sochi_is_mine) 14:59, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I had no trouble accessing them. The citation gives this address: http://www.accessabc.com/products/freereports.htm. Click "eCirc." Then click "Newspapers." Then search, under Canada, for "GAZETTE." Both the weekday and the Saturday figures are there.
Furthermore, the standard is not online accessibility -- it is verifiability. ``` t b w i l l i e ` $1.25 ` 19:48, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
On that last point see WP:SOURCEACCESS. ``` t b w i l l i e ` $1.25 ` 22:02, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Digital microfilm archives - is there a more specific link?[edit]

The external link to the digital archives seems to lead just to Google News in general and not to an archive of the Gazette. I'd really like to access this archive. Is it online, and is there a better link that can be added here?—Anne Delong (talk) 12:35, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
