Infobox screenplay credit[edit]

The press kit and IMDb say "Screen Story and Screenplay by Ashleigh Powell. Billing block on one poster says Screenplay by Ashleigh Powell and Tom McCarthy. Billing block on another poster say Screenplay by Ashleigh Powell with Tom McCarthy not sharing the credit. The actual credits shown in the film itself should be authoritative and likely IMDb has copied that correctly and the press kit accurately reflects the film credits. The first poster billing block, that we are using as a source, looks to be incorrect. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:54, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Budget[edit]

There are some editors so determined to cancel the WP:DAILYMAIL that they are willfully damaging articles in their crusade. They delete references without trying to find replacements and leave only {{citation needed}} tags, like as if the information had never been sourced at all.[1]

The Infobox lists the budget as $120–133 million[2] with only one source, Deadline.com refers to Disney’s $120M-priced family film. There was previously a second sourced but it was deleted.
ThisisMoney.co.uk is published by the Mail on Sunday so apparently that means it must be excluded from Wikipedia. It wasn't even ThisisMoney.co.uk/DailyMail making any claims themselves, they were entirely attributing the figures to BFI, quote:『According to the British Film Institute filmmakers spent £1.9 billion producing movies in Britain last year – a 23 per cent increase on 2016. Of that, £1.7 billion came from foreign firms.』and "Accounts for the two years to January show Nutcracker – filmed at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and made by Mistletoe Pictures, an offshoot of Disney – had total costs of £103.8 million, with around £85.6 million spent in Britain."[3][4] (£103.8 UK converts to $133 million US) I tried to find other sources but I was unable to find any that reported on the spending of the Nutcracker specifically, just general articles on the British film industry. I looked on British Film Institute website directly (http://bfi.org.uk/) and looked through various documents about spending they'd released but I wasn't able to find figures for the Nutcracker quoted by ThisisMoney but the information is not secret, it is all all fairly standard public disclosure in return for tax breaks. I spent a substantial amount of time looking but there is a limit to how much time I was willing to spend trying to clean up a mess created by editors who think "deprecated" means delete immediately. This was months ago, but the higher figure of $133 remains in the Infobox without any source.

I wasn't able to find the financial documents which would be the best source, but looking again now I was able to find an editorial article from Rotten Tomatoes which might be enough. It said Nutcracker "cost nearly as much as The BFG (reportedly somewhere between $120 million and $133 million), so it will need to over-perform significantly overseas." [5] TheWrap.com also said the film cost $130 million[6]

The higher budget figure was previously sourced but anti-DailyMail zealots made a mess when they deleted the source without making any effort to find replacements. Perhaps if someone else looked again they might be able to find the figures from the BFI or other suitable sources. Caveat lector. -- 109.76.213.236 (talk) 17:53, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
