I think this should be changed to "This_Boy_(The_Beatles)", and give the Franz Ferdinand song it's own page, at "This_Boy_(Franz_Ferdinand)". Have This_Boy redirect to either a disambiguation page, or default to The Beatles version, with a link to the Franz page at the top. --69.247.169.233 11:52, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, rather than just delete anything Franz Ferdinand related with the song and make the page just about The Beatles version is not the answer. The Beatles song is only a b-side, whilst the Franz Ferdinand song is one of the most popular songs on their album "You Could Have It So Much Better", and therefore also deserves its own page. If that is not possible then both bands should share the same page, rather than have Beatle fans deleting any Franz Ferdinand information, and vice versa. Image:Iwanttoholdyourhandcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Should we include doo-wop as a genre? An editor claims to have references for this, but none of them clearly define the song as doo-wop, they merely dance around the issue. I for one say no. Radiopathy •talk• 21:39, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
However the fact remeains that the sources clearly say the song is based around the classic doo-wop structure. If we don't include doo-wop then why? Where are the sources for rock, pop, merseybeat et cetera. You making this into some childish edit conflict doesn't change the fact the sources do say it is doo-wop or the fact you have no sources for any other genres. So I say yes doo-wop should be included as per Wikipedia's rules. This isn't some strange conspiracy theory that is claiming the Beatles were actually an invention of a Martian Beethoven; it is just a listing of genres that the song fits into. It fits into the doo-wop genre (regardless of whether it fits into any other) or at least is is seen to; your POV doesn't change that fact. Only recently I have found about Sleep Walk, and to me, this sounds much more similar than the mentioned I've Been Good to You. Could this be the original inspiration? - We can't ask Lennon about that :-( but still I think that the possibility could be mentioned in the article ... Maybe we can omit the speculation about (subconscious) inspiration and include it just like a "fun fact" that similar song exists which predates both The Beatles and The Miracles ...? --213.175.37.10 (talk) 15:28, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
