In the Infobox, the line "Doctoral students = Jonas Salk" is in error. In 1942, after getting his MD and then doing an internship, Salk came to work in the lab of Dr. Francis. Salk, himself, is quoted as saying: "After my internship, in '42, I went to Ann Arbor, Michigan. I was there until '47, then went on to Pittsburgh, to be somewhat independent of my mentor [Dr Francis]." [1]

I considered changing the line to: "postdoctoral student = Jonas Salk" but Salk was not a student. PhDs often (these days) do postdoctoral fellowships, but Salk was an MD and he specifically says that he was not trained to be a virologist; and so changing the line to "postdoctoral fellow = Jonas Salk" probably wouldn't be exactly correct either, but either that or, more accurate, something like "mentor of = Jonas Salk[2]" would perhaps be acceptable.

My taking such an action is blocked. Since the line is clearly in error and thus must be changed, someone more privileged will have to do it.--Wikifan2744 (talk) 23:13, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
