Text and/or other creative content from Anti-submarine net was copied or moved into Torpedo net with this edit. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.
I deleted this paragraph because it doesn't seem pertinent to the topic:
"Also, major navies had already begun deploying a new class of warship named the torpedo boat destroyer (later shortened to "destroyer"). After the destroyer's successes against torpedo boats and the latter's demise as a tactical weapon, destroyers were primarily targeted against submarines, the use for which they are best known today."
The torpedo boat may have disappeared as a major torpedo-launching threat, but its disappearance was made up for by the submarine.
I've removed obvious false information on using torpedo nets during an opening attack on Russian fleet, which was based upon some Japanese reports from 1907. All modern Russian sources agree, that there were no nets deployed, what is considered a major error now. Presence of torpedo nets must have been a propaganda excuse for the Japanese limited success. The torpedo net cutter section mentions a "French pistol-powered version". What is that and how does it work? GMRE (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
