Old[edit]

Someone should remove the space in "e. g." and "i. e." everywhere on this page, since it 1) causes bad line breaking, and 2) just looks weird. Daniel Brockman 23:19, Sep 6, 2004 (UTC)

OR....you could do it yourself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.126.208.14 (talk) 21:14, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraph duplicated in another page[edit]

The last paragraph is a repeat from the Exogamy page, and should be removed.

Catholic Encyclopedia[edit]

Isn't this from the Catholic Encyclopedia?

Yes it is. And it's really impossible to NPOV that stuff, so I was bold and simply removed it and hope for a good rewrite of that article. --Conti| 00:25, Jan 29, 2005 (UTC)

I'm having a hard time relating the ideas in these three articles. They seem to be describing three completely different concepts. If they're really unrelated, that should be explained. If they are in fact related, then there's something wrong with the articles. The totemism article says the word comes from an Ojibwe word, but the totem article seems to imply that it's from Chinese. Or is the Chinese word totim actually derived from the English word totem? I think this should be clarified. --Bcrowell 15:51, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The theories in this article were largely unsources and original research. The only sourced content is duplicated over at Totem. Totem pole is standalone as it covers the objects carved by the cultures in a particular region of the Americas. If at any point "totemism" becomes fleshed-out as a well-sourced section in the Totem article, it can be put back here, but right now, it's just not up to WP standards for an article. - CorbieV 21:16, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification[edit]

Going to come back later today to complete wikifing the article. OSborn arfcontribs. 17:16, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty much done, I've linked all the stuff I could. Seems a tad short on links to me but I didn't find that many cases where a link we be helpful or was available. OSborn arfcontribs. 19:08, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
