Is it ever played?[edit]

If anyone knows if it is ever played nowadays, and whether it sounds musical, please add this information. Given its massive appearance, I would imagine it can cope with new strings and would sound as good as new, although perhaps the holes that take the pegs to which the strings are attached are necessarily a weak point and people are reluctant to touch those.
