Name Translation

[edit]

altough "Vaza Jato" literally translates to "Jet Leaks", i believe a better translation would be "Car Leaks". The name "Vaza Jato" comes from "Lava Jato", that literally translates to "Jet Wash" but means "Car Wash". So the Car Wash gave birth to the Car Leaks.

[edit]

Moro's role is, I believe, more akin to the French juge d'instruction. Brazil's legal system is a modified Napoleonic code. In any event his title need a better translation that "judge" and 2) it is noeetheless improper for them to hatch up a scheme like this. I or someone else should flesh this out Elinruby (talk) 05:35, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

not exactly

[edit]

in Brazil, there is (or, better, there was at the time) only one judge, and he is responsible for both『instrução』and actual judging. the law changed recently, but wasnt enforced yet.

Term origin

[edit]

The term comes from a hashtag used first by Greenwald on Twitter, and then picked up by others. I thought I had a discussion somewhere, linking to the exact tweet, but can't find the discussion right now. Mathglot (talk) 11:38, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
