About CapX2020

[edit]

One of the effects of the project is to allow Wisconsin utilities to meet the Wisconsin RPS standard by importing renewable generated electricity from states further west, Minnesota, North and South Dakota. Wind power is all but dead in Wisconsin due to permitting difficulties and mediocre wind sites. This provides a demand for wind power from the more western states.

Lines from North Dakota and South Dakota will allow further wind development in those states. Wind power expansion in both these states is stalled because of lack of unfilled local demand for the power, and no more capacity to transmit out of state. Not that all the electricity on the lines will be from wind power, but a good share of it will be. Expect to see a large amount of wind power come on line in the Dakotas in 2015 or 2016. --Aflafla1 (talk) 05:15, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
