Permanently protected template

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is used to generate referencesorexternal links to the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). It uses {{cite web}} to produce the output, and passes the publisher to that template automatically. It also contains a table of database names, to save the user from entering the database's title and editor(s). Typical usage would be:

{{cite WoRMS |author= |year= |title= |id= |access-date=24 June 2024}}

For an entry that is part of one of the named databases in WoRMS, the additional db= parameter is used:

{{cite WoRMS |author= |year= |title= |id= |access-date=24 June 2024 |db=}}

Where the entry is not in one of the names databases, db= can be omitted. The title= field should contain Wiki-formatting for italics, as appropriate. To use the template to generate an entry in the external links section of an article, omit the access-date= field. If the author= field is missing or empty, a default author of "WoRMS" will appear.

Example output

produces:

For cs2 style citations, use |mode=cs2:

which produces:
