• Article:Character expansion 461% according to the recommended javascript tool; that initially seems short of 500%, but excluding infoboxes and certain other displayed text I believe it's honest to stipulate that the article "prose" has been recently expanded fivefold (and is sufficiently lengthy, obviously). Neutrality: Very mild fawning of subject, but probably noticeable only to experienced Wikipedians; none of it begs for correction and the article honestly treats the subject's outspoken support for segregation. Sources: Solid and several; leans a bit heavily on Baseball-Reference.com and SABR.org but both are fine; the first is dry statistics and the second is very conversational and doesn't seem to have been plagiarized. Skimmed other refs (largely news reports) and didn't find evidence of plagiarism.
  Hook: Less than half the acceptable 200 characters, and properly formatted. The hook's content has two things that slightly worry me: 1) while most Americans will probably realize that the term "Hall of Fame manager" refers to a baseball team manager who has been inducted into the Hall of Fame, will too many assume Connie Mack himself managed the Hall of Fame itself? 2) Would "...trading away Herb Pennock" be better than "...selling Herb Pennock"? I think so.
  Other: The hook image is free (over almost a hundred years old!), used in the article, and shows up well.

Thanks for reviewing. Just to clarify on the 5x expansion, the article was 2404 characters of prose before I started expanding, and is 12062 now, so it's a full 5x by a hair (the DYKcheck took helps with the prose counting). I'll provide a QPQ today. As for timing, I have no objection to holding it for the postseason. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:39, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

I hate when a party-pooper reviewer is a nudzh for those last few bytes, so I'm glad we've put that potential objection behind us. I should have commented on the form of the citations; it would be ideal to clean them up (although their current form doesn't disqualify the article from DYK, IMHO).
