Template:R from subpage

When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:

This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect: From a subpage: This is a redirect from a subpage. In a page title, a subpage name appears after a forward slash (/); for example, "Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Articles", which is a subpage of "Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket", redirects to Template:CricketRecentChanges. Not all articles or other pages with "/" in their titles are subpages (e.g. CP/M). If this redirect is in mainspace, then it will populate the Redirects with old history category bold-linked above; if in any other namespace, then ‹The template Cat is being considered for merging.› Category:Redirects from subpages will be populated. When appropriate, protection levels are automatically sensed, described and categorized.

When used by itself:

This template should notbesubstituted nor used to tag soft redirects.

Usage

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates the following categories by default:
  • When the redirect is in mainspace, ‹The template Cat is being considered for merging.› Category:Redirects with old history and ‹The template Cat is being considered for merging.› Category:Unprintworthy redirects
  • In any other namespace, ‹The template Cat is being considered for merging.› Category:Redirects from subpages

In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Mainspace redirects from subpages are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. In early versions of Wikipedia, subpages in mainspace were used to hold subtopics of their main articles. At present, subpages are no longer used for that purpose. These redirects are kept to maintain edit history and to avoid breaking links that have been made to the redirect, both internally and externally.

Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia.

Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect.
