USAHockey eliminated the letters regarding the different levels. The levels will be known as Tier I, II, and III.
Press Release? This was approved at the annual meetings in Orlando. Junior C is gone, no Junior C league exist. [1]This was the last hurrah for the Buffalo Stars C squad as USA Hockey has opted to eliminate the Junior C level beginning next season. This Buffalo Stars team showed some real spirit this season. After dwelling in the cellar for the first 3 months of the season, Buffalo came on strong around Christmas and went on a tear, losing only a single game the rest of the regular season. Alright... I'm not sure how the first link applies to this... it seems to have to do with limiting import players... but the second link does say that Tier III-Junior C has been eliminated... not T3 Jr. A or B... so... we should merge Jr. B & C I imagine... The letters do not exist, they're gone. The first link was example that the letters are gone. "So you have a Tier III hockey club, and the Junior Council just tells you that all 153 teams are at the same level of play. The letters are all gone."[3]Sportslogo (talk) 19:47, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the CHA's website... they are still calling it Junior B... let's not be so hasty about this... wait for more conclusive info... ultimately... it is doubtful that the Atlantic League champion is playing for the same national championship as the winner of the Empire or Great Lakes League... let's, wait and see... in the end we will know. Regarding the template showing Junior A as being split between Tier 1 & Tier 2, I believe this is misleading and should be changed. Tier 1 & Tier 2 are only used by BC Hockey, and are simply a rebranding of Junior A & Junior B, respectively. After BC's only Junior A league went independent in 2023, all 3 Junior B leagues in BC were re-labelled as "Junior A Tier 2", however they are equivalent to Junior B in the Canadian Club System. As of 2024, there are no Tier 1 teams in BC. There are plans for some of the Tier 2 teams to be promoted to Tier 1, at which time they may seek membership in the Canada-wide association of Junior A leagues known as the CJHL.
