The current president Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam has just recently been replace by Pratibha Patil. Please correct this on the side note panel of content page.

Usage of the Indian flag[edit]

The template is being used not only in pages of Indian national institutions and the Constitution of India, but also in articles on individual Indian political parties like the DMK. I'm highly uncomfortable about having the Indian flag prominently in such articles. Either we should modify this template or should remove the template from those pages. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 04:15, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

The template is not supposed to be used on the party pages. There's a separate template/infobox for that. See the BJP, Congress and CPI (M) articles. =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:40, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll go ahead and remove the template from the pages that I know of. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 05:43, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

I do not agree. If there is a separate template/infobox for that party, OK, but otherwise, please use this template. Electionworld 12:11, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Added Vice President and Dy. PM[edit]

Hi,

While Vice President of India is also a part of legislative, he is nevertheless an executive. This is not contradictory, as an MP can be a minister as well and has both legislative and executive functions. Similarly, the Vice President has a legislative or more precisely an administrative overseeing function as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

While the Deputy Prime Minister of India is not a regular position, it is, nevertheless, an implicit "second among equals" after the Prime Minister.

Also, the respective links to these 2 pages show them to be ceremonial or namesake positions, hence their addition to the template gives a complete picture without inflating the importance of these two positions.

---Gurubrahma 06:13, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This template has been added to Vice President of India and Deputy Prime Minister of India. Gurubrahma 06:23, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ministries and Ministers[edit]

Similar to having two seperate articles for the post and the person, (eg. President & Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister & Manmohan Singh), I think we should separate between the union minstries and the ministers. Today, the page The Union Ministries of India redirects to Indian Cabinet Ministers, which only lists the current union ministers. Any objections...? Since I've not done changes to templates before, I just want to be sure than to 'screw-up'!! -- Natrajdr 08:04, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

President under legislative?[edit]

Is there any particular reason the President is listed under the "legislative" section of this template? I'm tempted to just go ahead and move it up to the Executive section, but wanted to double-check in case there's some quirk of Indian politics I'm missing. --Jfruh (talk) 17:34, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change in the template[edit]

I see that User:Sumanch has changed the template. In the new template the names of the various leaders are missing (Pratibha Patil, Manmohan Singh etc.) Can somebody add that? --Natrajdr (talk) 15:44, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Republic of India

this line should be updated as "United Progressive Alliance" the title of the article, as this is individual political party, it does not constitute the Republic of India (the nation), so need to be excluded. similarly this also need to be removed

as emblem of India can be used only for administrative or judiciary authorities, it can not be connected with the identities of Political parties.

if this is the template for all the Political parties of India, then it need to be corrected for all the concerned pages.

Overhaul of template[edit]

While editing the Politics of India page, I had stumbled upon this template. At first glance, the template looked too messy and when compared to other politics templates, it was sub-par. Some of the names in the template were also outdated, and I felt the responsibility to change these. Most of my changes are lessening the content, per WP:NAV. Templates like this aren't an index of one topic, but it is a mere guide to the larger web of articles on the wiki. I also changed some formatting to conform with Template:Politics of the United States, Template:Politics of the United Kingdom, and Template:Politics of Japan, like adding a portal at the bottom, lessening size of image, etc. Should you have questions please reply to this discussion. Semi-protected edit request on 19 October 2021[edit]

A. Under the "Elections" section, please insert Election Commission of India and Electoral reforms (piped and shortened from Electoral reform in India).

B. Under the "Political parties" section, please insert Political families (piped and shortened from Political families of India) and Political scams (piped and shortened from List of scandals in India).

Rationale: Existing template has Supreme Court of India under "Judiciary" section, this suggestion to include the "Election Commission" is similar.

Thank you. 58.182.176.169 (talk) 17:38, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. - FlightTime (open channel) 17:43, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
