"Technical universities" section[edit]

I don't think that dividing the template into four geographical sections and a technical universities section is logical or useful.

  1. It takes away the benefit of a simple geographic overview, as the technical universities are located in all different parts of the country. In practise, this defeats the purpose of creating geographic sections in the first place.
  2. There is little to distinguish a "technical university" from other universities. While some designate themselves as such in their name, or are organised in groups like TU9, these are rather subjective. There is no distinction in German law between a technical university and any other university. Most universities considered "technical" also offer degrees in various non-technical subjects including humanities, economics or medicine.

On that basis I suggest that the "technical universities" section should be dissolved and the universities listed there instead be sorted by region.
@Aloneinthewild: you may be interested in this since you introduced the sections in the first place. --BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 19:32, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

PS: May also want to consider sorting by states instead of arbitrary north/south/east/west designations. --BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 19:56, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, I have no problem with sorting by states/länder. I didn't know so much about how technical universities are recognised in Germany but can surely include them. Aloneinthewild (talk) 18:03, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I'll proceed with the edits. BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 23:28, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
