Jon Bernthal as Brax (Braxton), Christian's brother. He operates a security company for high-profile clients.
J. K. Simmons as Ray King, the Director of the Treasury Department's FinCEN. King built a career out of following leads from Wolff after meeting him years earlier on a stakeout.
Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Marybeth Medina, a young Treasury agent who is tasked with finding The Accountant's real identity.
In June 2017, a sequel to The Accountant was announced to be in development, with Gavin O'Connor and Bill Dubuque returning in their respective roles as director and writer. Ben Affleck was to return in the starring role.[1] By February 2020, Affleck confirmed that developments were ongoing, with the studio having considered retroactively turning a separate script that they are developing into The Accountant 2. The actor additionally expressed interest in the potential for a television series.[2]
In September 2021, Connor revealed in an interview with Cinema Blend that a sequel was in development, with a possibility of a third one as well. Affleck and Jon Bernthal were confirmed to reprise their roles as Christian Wolff and Brax.[3] In March 2024, J. K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson were also announced to be returning.[4]
In September 2021, O'Connor revealed plans to expand The Accountant into a trilogy of movies. With production tentatively slated to be completed consecutively with the second installment, the filmmaker categorized the third movie as a buddy film; calling the project "Rain Man on steroids".[12][2]
