API[edit]

ApplicationXtender Web Services (AppXtender Web Services) provides a development interface to the AppXtender content management system, allowing custom client or server components to call AppXtender functions through AppXtender Web Services. The AppXtender Web Services interface is a server side layer that brokers communication with the business logic components of an AppXtender Content Management system. Furthermore, AppXtender Web Services provides complex business logic for accessing and manipulating content through a set of APIs, each of which represent a logical and transactional operation. AppXtender Web Services offers:

AppXtender Web Services component of AppXtender Web Services is a web service that allows AppXtender Web Services to interact dynamically with another application using SOAP-based open standards, which are executed through a series of XML function calls. AppXtender Web Services runs behind the scenes, communicating with the components of the AppXtender Content Management system. Functions are requested from a line-of-business server and sent through HTTP to the AppXtender Web Services server for processing. The AppXtender Web Services interface then sends a response to the request via HTTP to the line-of-business server, which then presents the function response to the user desktop. Each time a user logs into an AppXtender data source through AppXtender Web Services, a license or seat of AppXtender Desktop, Web, or Web Services (depending on your AppXtender Web Services configuration in AppXtender Admin) is acquired and cached until the user logs out of the AppXtender Web Services-based custom application. AppXtender Web Services is supported on the Microsoft Windows Server platform through the .NET Framework. However, AppXtender Web Services clients may operate on any platform that supports the SOAP calls.
