"There are no small edits, only small editors" - Konstantin Stanislavski if he were a Wikimedian
Chris Koerner
Me, a person.

Hello. My name is Chris Koerner. (Mylast name is pronounced Ker-ner). I use he/him pronouns. I live on the unceded lands of the Kiikaapoi people in the Midwestern United States. I enjoy photography (recently drone videography), video games, and spending time with my family and friends.

I work at the Wikimedia Foundation as a Senior Movement Communications Specialist.

Previously I worked at Mercy, a non-profit health system based in the mid-western United States. My primary role was working with data-focused co-workers to help provide robust support around the descriptions and definitions of data - which was maintained on a MediaWiki-based wiki that I administered (co-worker support, lots of writing, training, upgrades, etc.). I also helped to administer an internal wiki for the IT department that housed a catalog of every application used, help desk support documentation, and various procedure and technical documents.

I got involved in the Wikimedia movement largely around MediaWiki and its uses in communities outside of Wikimedia. I was an active member of the MediaWiki Stakeholders' Group, a user group of third-party MediaWiki administrators, developers, and users who advocate for using MediaWiki.

I was an active member of the WordPress community. I helped to organize monthly meetups about the software and volunteered as a co-organizer for our yearly all-day conference called WordCamp St. Louis. I occasionally take on clients for small projects related to non-profits and local businesses.

My wife founded a local non-profit animal rescue - St. Louis Pet Rescue. I helped with fundraising, marketing, technology, and web initiatives.

Disclaimer: I work for the Wikimedia Foundation (CKoerner (WMF) since January 25th, 2016). This is my personal account. Edits, statements, or other contributions made from this account are my own, and may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
