Welcome to Taser News Central!

WELCOME! I hope you all make great use of my taser news section.

Apr. 17/08

This section was started.

News from Apr. 15 (SkyTrain) and Apr. 16 (10-year old boy receives taser threat from police):

It was discovered Tues. Apr. 15/08 that Vancouver SkyTrain transit police used the taser 4 times on non-violent people, due to fare dodging.

On Sun. Apr. 13/08, a 10-year old boy was given a taser threat and then arrested by police at his home. His parents has gone out. He and 5 friends were having a noisy swordfight with sticks and playing XBOX with the volume up high.

Check out "Talk:Taser Controversy" for more details.

In the news: released Fri May 23, 2008, 10:08

The first phase of the Vancouver Taser inquiry is complete. The safety of the weapon cannot be determined, to date. Dr. Keith Chambers says the prper studies have not been completed. Because the study focuses mainly on sudden death, conditions such as serious injury may be overlooked. Murray Mollard, the executive director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, wants the taser banned completely.

The first phase focused on taser use, deaths, and injuries. Medical experts are concerned about the taser, while the police say they save lives.

The second stage of this inquiry focuses on Dziekanski's death, but cannot begin until all police investigations are complete and any charges dealt with in court. Stay tuned for more info.
