When recently resettled, the needs of each migrant community include food, housing, language skills and employment. The Wikimedia Movement via local affiliates and numerous independent Wikipedians can help satisfy these needs for migrant communities.

  • Language learning provide English as a Second Language (ESL) materials via Wikibooks
  • Language translation The migrant community and associations serving them offer a talent pool with knowledge in non-English languages. Wikimedia projects like Wikidata, Wikipedia, Wikivoyage and Wikibooks are need of translated content. Established partnerships between human aid organizations and Wikimedia chapters.
  • Finding resources There are many resources offers from human aid departments of government and non-profit relief organizations. Improve ability to find existing offerings.
  • Note: More established immigrant communities have different needs. These are outside the scope of the initial project.
