David was born in Rockhampton on the 28th Janurary 1983. A descendant of the Wakka Wakka people located in Queensland, his grandmother Maureen Williams taught him traditional Aboriginal songs when David was a child. At the age of six, he began learning the piano, developing the vital musical skills that would later assist him in other musical challenges. Eager to follow his older brother Chris (a talented trumpet player) into brass instrument playing, he was introduced to the trombone at the age of ten. Through David's brass banding career, he took out two Australian bass trombone titles, seven state titles and numerous other eisteddfod prizes. During this time, he also developed his skills on the tuba and didgeridoo.

After graduating from high school on the Sunshine Coast, David undertook a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2005. There he gained specific skills in computer composition, sound recording, editing and many music performance techniques. David has taken these skills and applied them to a form a compositional and performance technique that blends the traditional with the contemporary.

In 2004, David performed with James Morrison performing traditional didge and a contemporary combination of didge and jazz. In early 2005, David travelled to England and France, with part of his time spent teaching classes with various schools in London and Essex.

In November 2005 recently David for performed with Jane Rutter and James Morrison for the Qantas 85th Birthday. This highly successful event was celebrated with John Travolta and the arrival of the Airbus A380.

In January 2006 David travelled to Beijing, China to perform with Bernadette Robinson and Paul Noonan for the celebration of direct flights between Sydney and Beijing.

Currently David is a radio producer at 98Nine FM studios, and performs didgeridoo locally, and internationally. Also a talented artist, he has developed and refined his painting skills to a standard that has seen him receive accolades as an international Aboriginal artist, with works exhibited in Sweden, England, Italy, Spain and Germany.
