Hi there! My name is Joe, and I'm a Lead Trust and Safety Specialist at the Wikimedia Foundation. I've been with the Foundation since 2013, starting this role in May 2016. I have been an editor on the English Wikipedia (and dabbled in various other Wikimedia projects) since 2006 and an administrator since 2008. In real life, I'm originally from Aberdeen in Scotland, and graduated with a BA(Hons.) in Journalism in July 2015. I am currently based in San Francisco, California.
I wrote a dissertation on how Wikipedia reacts to breaking news as part of my degree.
I'm a Lead Trust and Safety Specialist on the Trust and Safety team. Our team works to keep volunteers safe while they interact with Wikimedia projects, both on- and offline. Recent work has included a resource kit on event safety and a metrics kit for measuring relative community health.
