A barnstar for you[edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
This is for your contributions to Muhammad. Pachu Kannan (talk) 05:39, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pachu Kannan: Thank you for the barnstar, it's much appreciated! Cheers, Left guide (talk) 05:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for clarification or edit[edit]

I saw you made this edit. What education was it? It is not clear here. So I humbly suggest you to use a m-dash or a colon (less recommended) to clarify it. Or explain there what is meant by education there because by the term "education", one means writing and reading or other formal education.Neutralhappy (talk) 15:56, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification : an m-dash or colon after the term "education". That is what I meant. Other option is to replace the term "education" with skills or the like. Neutralhappy (talk) 16:11, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi@Neutralhappy: thanks for inquiring. Unfortunately, the cited source (page 18 in Chapter One: Mecca) doesn't elaborate beyond that; on that topic, it only says

Abu Talib was very fond of his nephew, and his brothers also helped with Muhammad's education. Hamzah, the youngest, a man of prodigious strength, instructed Muhammad in the martial arts, making him a skilled archer and competent swordsman.

Are there other sources that might provide the detail you are looking for? One option in the meantime might be to add the {{clarify}} tag. Left guide (talk) 18:00, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could you edit it as "assisted with" instead of "assisted in"?
You can also consider replacing the term "education" with "learning" if you are interested. Neutralhappy (talk) 19:04, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Neutralhappy:  Done additionally, after further reflection, using the word "also" seems misleading since the source doesn't indicate Hamza's training as separate from Muhammad's education but rather as a part of it, and ironically, removing that word in accordance with the source should also resolve your (and my) original concern about lack of detail and clarification. In the future, please feel free to be bold in making these changes yourself since you're extended-confirmed; it saves time for everyone. The third pillar of Wikipedia says

no editor owns an article – any contributions can and may be mercilessly edited

WP:EDITCONSENSUS may also be of value to you. Left guide (talk) 20:39, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page Talk question[edit]

What do I do if I leave a comment on a page's talk page and not get a response? I'm asking as eariler this week, I left a comment at Talk:Paul George, asking if we should change the nickname on Paul Geroge's page to PG-8 since he is now wearing 8 on the 76ers since his former number, 13, is retired by the 76ers but haven't gotten a comment on that. ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 20:53, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ReallyAmazingDude13: Most talk pages of individual NBA player articles aren't heavily-trafficked, so if you receive no response after a short while, you might want to consider posting to the NBA project talk page at WT:NBA, which is a more centralized and active discussion board. As for the proposed change itself, it's essential to provide reliable sources that directly mention this supposed new nickname, otherwise it might be considered original research, which is prohibited by Wikipedia's WP:OR policy. Left guide (talk) 21:02, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no news source that mentions the new nickname but it has been used by the Philadelphia 76ers Twitter/X account on the tweet "PG8 checking in" that has a video attached of Paul George saying what's up to Philly Fans and how he is excited to be there with 76ers, which at the start of the video, he says that its now PG-8 and not PG-13 as the Number 13 is retired by the 76ers ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 21:35, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ReallyAmazingDude13: I found these two news sources that make note of the PG8 nickname. They should be suitable for what you are attempting to do. Good luck. Left guide (talk) 21:45, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 23:01, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
