Artis Turba[edit]

Artis Turba is a cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Centurion, Gauteng[1]. The platform was launched in September 2018 and allows its community to buy and sell popular digital currencies with the local South African fiat currency, the South African Rand (ZAR), as well as allowing trading of listed Crypto-Crypto pairs.

History[edit]

Artis Turba was conceptualized in early 2017 in response to the emerging popularity of Cryptocurrency Trading and the lack of direct Cryptocurrency availability directly to the South African public[2]. In early 2017, the wider South African public only had access to Bitcoin experienced repeated transaction steps to participate in other emerging Cryptocurrencies. It was only until late 2017[3] that other Cryptocurrencies was directly offered to the South African public as competition in the local markets started taking shape.

Product[edit]

Artis Turba offers an online Order Book based exchange for multiple cryptocurrencies and the South African Rand. As at the time of writing Artis Turba has listed Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple_(payment_protocol)#XRP, Tron, DigiByte, Stellar_(payment_network), EOS.IO, BitTorrent, Electroneum and ARTIS.

Artis Turba also offers its own native Exchange token called ARTIS that shares trading fee revenues generated on the platform with those members who own the cryptocurrency[4][5]
