I live in a rural area of the Missouri Ozarks, and have a B.A. in English from the University of Oregon. My professional training is in newspaper copy editing, though I have not worked in that field for a number of years. I fear my copy-editing skills have become extremely rusty, and editing here at Wikipedia is a low-stress, enjoyable way of sharpening them again.
My username, Mechla, is a Hebrew word meaning illnessoraffliction. I chose it because I feel it represents the addictive nature of Wikipedia. It's all too easy to get lost for hours in the labyrinth of hyperlinks.
