Herbert Alexander Wahl, PhD, (7 April 1900 – 16 July 1975[1]) was an American botanist and taxonomist and scientific authority of over twenty plant species.
Wahl was born in Rochester, Beaver County, Pennsylvania and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture in 1925 and then a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in botany. Wahl was a faculty member of Pennsylvania State University for 40 years, beginning his employment in 1926, and retiring as professor emeritus on 1 July 1966. He taught botany and plant taxonomy, focusing his research on the flora of Pennsylvania.
In 1979 Wahl co-authored the 1979 Atlas of the Flora of Pennsylvania.[2]
