Grew up in an Irish speaking home in Dublin, Ireland. After working there several years I moved to Bavaria Germany. Engaged here in different capacities over four decades, before re-rooting myself home. Claim some Benedictine roots and close ties to Mexico.

Reviewing the authenticityofIrish history in the half centuary prior to 1920, it was apparent that many important developments and significant events during those crucial years had been either marginalised, or simply de-existed out of historical publications by most "authoritative" and "accepted" historians.

An abundance of selective history written from a traditionally approved perspective is widely available. This, furthered by the State's educational system, instils a trans-generational uniformity of thinking. Which raises the question of whether accepted Irish history might be nothing other than a collective understanding to generate a continued adopted status quo view of our history (aka. 'history management'). Any broader historical inclusiveness denounced as "revisionism".

Irish historiography is much the poorer for largely out-casting half of a period rich in historical socio-economic source material. Deprived of attention its scale of magnitude makes it all the more deserving of ongoing unbiased and politically neutral reappraisal. History should be about constant revisiting and questioning of assumptions. Revisionism is what makes history vital and meaningful.

The extent to which an understanding within the Island of Ireland’s divergent communities can evolve will depend upon the extent to which these communities generate a mutual acceptance of their different traditions, social structures and religious beliefs . A pre-requisite -- unprejudiced historical honesty.

Wikipedia was recommended to me early 2005 by 'Many Books', UK.

In appreciation and remembrance of Gaimhreadhan, the following is from his page (August 2007):

"Remember what we are doing here. We are building a free encyclopedia for every single person on the planet. We are trying to do it in an atmosphere of fun, love, and respect for others. We try to be kind to others, thoughtful in our actions, and professional in our approach to our responsibilities." Jimbo Wales"
